Greg Lapinski (Grzegorz Łapiński) is a Polish composer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, orchestrator, and music producer.
He acquired his theoretical knowledge by studying at music academies in Vienna, Gdańsk, and Warsaw.
His practical musical experience, on the other hand, was gained through performing with numerous and diverse ensembles — ranging from top Polish popular bands and jazz groups to electronic projects, chamber classical ensembles, folk bands, and orchestras.
Through these collaborations, he has released numerous albums, including projects that achieved triple platinum and gold certification.
As a result, he has performed in Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, and the United States.
All of these experiences have contributed to shaping his own distinctive musical language, which is now finding expression in his upcoming solo album.
Although the dream of creating a solo album had accompanied the composer for many years, the actual work on this most important project began in 2023.
The main inspiration behind the concert material was the desire to create music exactly as the artist himself would like to hear it.
The music that emerged from this process exists somewhere between indie electronica, neo-classicism, ambient, and elements of minimalist jazz.
The very idea of the concert assumes a solo, multi-instrumental performance, combining artistic sensitivity with technical mastery on piano, saxophone, clarinet, samplers, and synthesizers.
Completing the whole are deep, poetic lyrics and an ethereal vocal, often harmonized, looped, or processed in other creative ways.
So far, three official singles by the artist have been released:
The instrumental and atmospheric “Northern Impression”, combining improvised piano with refined electronics and the sound of a string trio.
The song “The Scent of Coffee”, featuring deeply personal lyrics and conceived as a multi-instrumental journey through many of the artist’s primary instruments (Prophet synthesizer, Moog Subsequent, looper, sampler, and saxophone).
The piano-driven “Old Fashioned”, enhanced only by a touch of subtle electronics, where the entire emotional focus is placed on harmonic relationships.
In March, the fourth single “What If I…” will be released, accompanied by an EP bringing together all four tracks.
At the core of his artistic philosophy lies a commitment to quality, depth, and authenticity. For Greg Lapinski, refined technique and conscious craftsmanship are never ends in themselves, but tools in service of expression. He creates music exactly as he would want to hear it — without compromise.
Lyrics play a significant role in his work: concise, poetic, and often built on suggestion rather than explanation, they leave space for personal interpretation. Rather than addressing a mass audience, his music is intended for listeners who seek something more — an invitation to pause, to listen attentively, and to experience something personal, something difficult to fully define.
More than presenting a concert, he aims to create an experience — a moment of immersion and reflection that encourages the listener to turn inward. Although the music is deeply personal, the audience always remains at its center, and the pursuit of the highest quality becomes, above all, an expression of respect.
In his creative process, he continually searches for a sound that allows him to say, “this is truly mine.” He treats inspiration as a point of departure rather than a destination, filtering it through his own sensitivity and perspective. Improvisation — understood as creative presence in the moment rather than virtuosic display — remains an essential element of his musical language.
Alongside his solo work, Greg Lapinski is an experienced composer for film, theatre, and audio. His music has been created for feature-length television theatre productions, numerous short films, and stage performances, as well as for radio theatre and spoken-word formats.
He has composed music for multiple productions of Polish Radio Theatre and received the Amadeusz Award (2020) for Best Debut in Polish Radio Theatre. His catalogue also includes music for a wide range of audiobooks.
He is also active as an orchestrator and has received recognition in international composition competitions, including First Prize at the Sound of Matter Competition in Vienna.
This narrative-driven work strongly informs his solo project, contributing to its cinematic, atmospheric character.
